MONEL ALIOTE STUDIO
Welcome to the realm where contemporary portrait painting intertwines with the captivating hues of the starry night sky. Through the lens of my camera, I capture the essence of individuals and transmute them into captivating works of art that pulsate with the vibrant colors reminiscent of Vincent van Gogh's legendary "Starry Night."
Every brushstroke I apply is imbued with passion and ingenuity, infusing life into each portrait and unveiling the distinctive beauty and essence of my subjects. As a contemporary portrait artist, I transcend mere representation, delving into the very soul of my subjects to craft pieces that resonate with emotion and evoke a profound sense of wonder.
Utilizing a palette of yellow, blue, light baby blue, and purple, I create portraits that encapsulate a spectrum of emotions and meanings. Yellow radiates joy and optimism, while blue evokes tranquility and intellect. Light baby blue imparts a sense of calmness, and dark blue conveys depth and authority. Purple, steeped in symbolism of royalty, luxury, creativity, wisdom, and magic, also embodies pride, independence, and peace, among other qualities. These colors harmonize to yield portraits that are not only vivid but also profound in significance.
Embark on this artistic odyssey where imagination knows no boundaries, and the line between reality and dreams blurs in a whirl of colors inspired by the celestial masterpiece of the night sky. Immerse yourself in my gallery and uncover a world where portraits breathe with the enchantment of starlight, beckoning you to behold beauty in a fresh and luminous perspective.
Driven by a desire to capture more than just a visual representation, New York contemporary portrait painter Monel Aliote aims to convey the very essence of an individual through his art. He delves into the emotions, attitudes, intentions, and moods of his subjects, striving to evoke their spirit and soul on the canvas.
Aliote's artistic journey began at 14. In 2009, his talent was recognized with a Gold Key from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and an invitation to participate in a group exhibition at The Brooklyn Museum. He honed his self-taught skills by studying drawing at The Art Students League of New York and further deepened his understanding through the masterful works of portraitists like Kehinde Wiley, Kerry James Marshall, and Barkley L. Hendricks.
While often pursuing a precise visual likeness, Aliote doesn't always prioritize exact replication. Instead, he intentionally alters the appearance of his subjects, embellishing or refining their images to emphasize or diminish specific physical, psychological, or social qualities.
